Story Towne and The Michael Ray Johnson Experiment
The Music:
An award winning guitarist Joe relies on solid acoustic guitar playing to present instrumental music in a myriad of styles. His vocal tunes rely on interesting twists and turns coupled with intelligent original lyrics as well as covers tunes done "A La Joe". As always there is a touch of silliness thrown in for good measure. Joe's solo instrumental music is reminiscent of artists such as Michael Hedges, Billy McLaughlin and Steve Morse. His vocal tunes ebb and flow between folk and pop motifs underlined with a "Rock & Roll" sensibility.
Story Towne is Joe's singer songwriter works performed in an acoustic driven band environment with some electric moments reminissent of his work with The Michael Ray Johnson Band. Story Towne may be considered similar to Josh Kelly, The Pat McGee Band and The Freddy Jone's Band. Story Towne is currently not taking bookings.
The Michael Ray Johnson Band pays homage to Joe's Rock and blues influences running the gamut from artist such as Eric Johnson and Stevie Ray Vaughn to the acoustic driven Rock/Pop of Matchbox 20 and Sister Hazel. The MRJB is currently not taking bookings.
Audio:
The new Solo Acoustic CD "String Theory" is due out later this year. The recording is sounding huge and has some moments that are "95db to the back of the house" acoustic music meant to rock!

Winter 2012 - I hope to make the cut with a tune I wrote for a compilation CD with Cowboy Junkies, Del a Mitry, Niko Case, Crash test Dummies and others, cool.
Winter 2011/12 - Working on a bunch of music licensing opportunities for radio and TV.
Fall 2011 - What a great summer, lots of shows, lots more music friends, 8 shows in 10 days during the "2 if by Water Tour", abbreviated "Heavy Water Tour" a dozen shows for very worthy charities. Great memories! Lots of recording and my first big show opening for a major artist, Tim Thompson since I opened for "Little Big Town". Yep, great summer, I'm a happy man!

June 2011 - Started recording the new "String Theory" CD at Randy's Recording in Cottage Grove, WI. The recording is sounding huge and there is a lot to 'turn it up" on.
Schedule
Winter 2011/12 Woo Hoo, lots going on. Writing for several projects and really busy with music but not much live playing for a while. Hope to have several things on radio, TV, and compilations CD's for this spring to be followed by live shows. Exciting times but almost too busy to breath. Working on my new studio too! Hope to have it up and running but spring.
